It’s officially fall and the weather in West Michigan is cooling quickly. The trees will soon be lighting up with glowing oranges, reds, and yellows. The time is right to start planning a weekend drive to check out the fall colors!
While you can just hop in your car and drive until the tank is empty and most certainly see some beautiful sights, a little bit of planning can give you the most “bang for your buck.” First, you want to find out when the fall colors will be at their peak in different parts of Michigan. The folks at Pure Michigan have created a very useful chart to help you determine when you should plan your trip.
After you decide when you are hitting the open road, you should decide where you are going. While Northern Michigan seems to be the preference for many, if you need to head out somewhere closer to home there are many routes you can take to enjoy the fall scenery. This site offers over 20 different routes you can take from a variety of locations and a range of lengths. There are even some suggestions of places to stop along the way to stretch your legs.
Now that you know when and where you are headed, pack some snacks and take lots of pictures! Have a favorite route or want to share an awesome photo you took on your trip? Head over to The Mark Deering Team Facebook page and share your experience!
