Best Breakfast Restaurants in West Michigan

Sizzling bacon, syrupy waffles, and some scrambled eggs, who doesn’t love a good breakfast? Breakfast is arguably one of my favorite foods to order at a restaurant. Why? I’m not 100% sure. Maybe it’s the atmosphere, or that the most popular time I go out to eat is after church on Sunday, and it just feels right. West Michigan is teeming with restaurants of all varieties, but we’re here today to talk about the best breakfast restaurants (in my opinion.) So let’s get started!

Village Baker, Spring Lake

This is one of THE hotspots in Spring Lake! They are open all day and have incredible lunches and dinner options too, but don’t sleep on their breakfast menu. They have your classics, but with a twist to make them new and fresh. All of their baked goods are made in house, and they serve locally roasted coffee from Traverse City. The interior feels a bit like an old-timey cafe and there is even a fun little area to shop for items like mugs, aprons, socks, and more. Even if your breakfast consists of just coffee and baked good, you’re winning here! Prices are reasonable as well.

Morning Star, Grand Haven

Arguably the most popular breakfast place in the Tri-Cities area, Morning Star has been a staple in the area for over 20 years. You’ll find a lot of the classic breakfast items like eggs and toast, pancakes, French toast, omelets, and more! There are also a number of less conventional items! One of my favorites is their Marbled Corn Bread Scramble! Homemade cornbread with scrambled eggs, avocado, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream…my mouth is watering just thinking of it! They also make a ton of amazing baked goods and desserts! Their cinnamon rolls are to die for! I also highly recommend their Blueberry Oat Pancakes. They always have some interesting specials which change daily. If you’re wanting to check this place out, I recommend arriving closer to when they open or when they close, unless you don’t mind waiting, especially in the summer and on weekends. It’s not unusual for their to be a 30 minute-1 hour wait during their busy times. But luckily there are some fun shops in the area you can enjoy while waiting!

Toast ‘N Jams, Muskegon

I’ve been going to Toast ‘N Jams practically since they opened. Unlike Morning Star or Village Baker, Toast ‘N Jams serves breakfast all day, so you can get your fix anytime! They have really good sized portions and a lot of your favorites. One of my absolute favorite sweet breakfasts is their Cinnamon Roll pancakes! So good, and they even come with two eggs and bacon or sausage! They have monthly specials and really fun retro styling throughout! Go check them out!

Anna’s House, Multiple Locations

Anna’s House is a local chain with locations throughout Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, and Holland, so you may have one around the corner from you! I love how their stores are styled and their portion sizes are impressive! My sister and I often end up splitting a meal because they are so large! They are also well known for having an extensive Gluten-free and Vegan menu. If you’re a tea lover, they are one of the few restaurants around that serve loose leaf tea.

Do you have a favorite breakfast place? I’d love to hear about it! I’m always looking for new recommendations and love exploring new restaurants. Our team loves spotlighting local businesses and sharing our favorites with you! We have a whole playlist of businesses that we recommend from restaurants to roofers. Go check them out!
