Winter Sports Hot Spots Around West Michigan
Winter is here! We love being active and outside, and snow won’t keep us from doing that! Like every season in Michigan, there are tons of activities and places to explore outside! So grab your winter gear and hit up one of these winter sports hot spots!
Cannonsburg, Grand Rapids: One of the most popular hotspots in Grand Rapids, Cannonsburg is a winter sports paradise for downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and fat biking! It is often a very busy spot and is loved by kids and adults alike! They offer day tickets and season passes and have some of the best food for an all-day experience!
Indian Trails Golf Course, Grand Rapids: During the winter, this golf course transforms into a winter fun zone! They have trails for fat biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing! There are also some fun hills for sledding or tubing! Most of their activities are available for free or require a small fee to participate. It’s a great spot to enjoy multiple winter sports!
Pigeon Creek, West Olive: One of our favorite spots for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing! This park is managed by Ottawa County, and they have some of the best trails in the area! Their sledding hill is great too! Perfect no matter what time of day as they have lighted trails. Don’t forget to cozy up with some hot cocoa after a loop around the park! They offer rentals for skiis and snowshoes.
Muskegon Luge, Muskegon: Head north for hours of fun at Muskegon State Park! Another great multi-sport area, they have two ice skating rinks, an ice skating trail, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and one of 4 luge tracks in the US! It’s a fantastic place to try your hand at some new winter sports or old ones! One of our favorites things about the trails at Muskegon Luge is that you can snowshoe all the way out to Lake Michigan!
