Closing day is coming! You've gotten over the hurdle of inspections and appraisals. The date is on the calendar for you to sign the papers, now what?
There are a few things that you can do to be ready for your closing day!
- Don't sweat the paperwork! You may still get some emails from us before closing asking for reverification of employment or other things, but these are just procedural and a way for the banks to make sure that you are good to go. So don't take it personally if we are asking for paperwork you may have already submitted.
- Don't open another line of credit! This is a big one! You may be in a celebratory mood or planning all of the things you want in your new space, but hold off on making those purchases via a credit card until after you've closed. Even then probably a good idea to not over spend as there are some homeownership bills that you might not be used to paying.
- Do start planning your move! While you're waiting, it's a good time to go through and purge your belongings and start making a moving plan. Whether you get possession of your home on your closing day or 30 days after, putting together a moving plan is a great idea!
