Best of West Michigan: Apple Orchards

It’s apple orchard season and the greater Grand Rapids area has dozens of them! Whether you are looking for a classic apple orchard experience, or something different, you’ll find something for everyone! Below are some of our favorite orchards around!

Jessica’s Pick: Schwallier’s Country Basket has been our family’s favorite orchard for many years!  They are geared more towards younger children, however I thoroughly enjoyed the adorable baby goats, amazing apple donuts and beautiful gift shop! They also have a food barn called N.O.B (New Old Barn) where they serve burgers, soups, and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches from 11am-5pm. On weekends make sure to check out the Lazy Dazy Coffee trailer! There’s so much to do for the whole family!

Some of my family’s favorites:
Train ride around the orchard
Corn Maze
Donuts and cider

Beth’s Pick: Ed Dunneback and Girls Farm Market is a great stop for a date night or a family day trip! This farm market has all your “normal” stuff like, a corn maze, animals to pet, orchards to pick from and playgrounds to burn energy; however, did you know it also has a full market (can we say yum to homemade goodies?!), craft beers and a delicious full menu!  Make sure you save room for dessert when you visit; I personally love the salted caramel donut.

Mike’s Pick: Cranes Orchards in Fennville is a must to go check out. This is our family’s annual stop every year! Whether it’s apples, cherries, peaches or pumpkins, Cranes is one of the finest U-Pick Orchards in the state. Don’t think picking fruit isn’t your thing?  No need to worry as there are number of different things to do with family and friends such as a corn maze, cow train rides for the kids, and after all that don’t forget to stop in to their restaurant and grab a delicious pie and/or some of their award winning wine and ciders.

Kevin’s Pick: Grange Fruit Farm seasonal market is open June-October 28th, and even has limited hours Sundays! You-Pick Orchards for Sweet Cherries, Peaches, variety of apples, pumpkins and other seasonal Michigan fruits. Pick up some fresh cider and fill a wagon with a selection of pumpkins, gourds and squash! Great family spot or stop for something fresh! Go check it out for yourself (and don’t forget to grab a selfie at their wagon display!)

Mark’s Pick: Post Family Farms has it all! So many fun activities, delicious donuts and even space for your wedding! Gorgeous floral displays, adorable goats, and so much more! Check out the video above!
