Best Greenhouses in West Michigan
Wherever you drive in West Michigan, it feels like there is a greenhouse in every town. Greenhouses are a major source of landscaping plants, produce garden plants, and flowers in our area. They can be anything from a small boutique greenhouse to acres upon acres of plants! These are some of our favorite greenhouses in the area!
- Countryside Greenhouse. A staple in the West Olive/Allendale area, this greenhouse is always busy! Boasting 6 acres of greenhouse space, they stock everything from outdoor nursery plants to herbs to succulents! New this year, they’ve expanded their produce section and stock Chef Jeff products! They also have rows of pots, pallets of fertilizer and soil, and so much more! Their “Dollar Menu” is always popular with different plants being added or changed. This is one greenhouse you have to check out!
- Homegrown Market. Not that far from Countryside is a smaller greenhouse with some absolutely beautiful blooms! Rich in history, the original greenhouse has been in operation since the 1960’s. Bought in 2017 by the DeGroots, they changed the name to Homegrown Market, but still give a nod back to its heritage by selling Feenstra’s asparagus which is grown right behind their greenhouse. They pride themselves on producing high-quality plants and flowers and training their staff to have expert knowledge of the plants they sell. They are only open for a short window between the last Saturday of April to June 9, so make sure to give them a visit while they are open! Watch our video below about their greenhouse!
- JW Greenhouse. With two locations Holland and Allendale, JW offers an abundance of plant and landscaping resources! You can sign up for porch pot classes, hire them to maintain your annual beds, or even use their excavating services. They’ve been serving West Michigan for over 29 years! Both locations are open seasonally from April 20-June. They will help you get your garden looking great and give you plenty of advice on what plants will work best for your lifestyle and yard!
- Flowerland. Started in 1940s, Flowerland has been a destination greenhouse in Grand Rapids for over 60 years! With multiple locations across Grand Rapids, it is easy to find one near you! Besides some beautiful florals and plants, they also sell patio furniture, gift, and home items. They have a great blog too full of gardening ideas and resources! Flowerland is definitely worth a visit! They are open year-round, so it is easy to plan a visit!
