Does the Perfect Home Exist?
It’s finally time to start looking at home! Armed with your checklist of “must-haves” and a saved search, you should be able to find that perfect home in no time. After looking through listings, you realize that maybe you can’t have everything you want in your dream home. Maybe you’ve changed your mind on the type of home you want as well. That’s OK. A good agent will tell you that the home that is perfect for you might not a 10/10, but maybe an 8 or 9/10. Even a millionaire building their own home will probably find something later that they wished they had done differently. What’s more important is that you see yourself in that space. We’ve heard time and time again from clients that the perfect home often didn’t hit everything on their checklist, but instead, it felt like home.
Below are 3 tips we always recommend to our clients for a successful home search!
- Make a list of “must-haves” and wishes. When you make a consultation appointment with one of our agents, they will always ask for a list of what you want in your home. Many of the key items are location, number of beds and baths, lot size, house style, price, etc. This will help us set up search parameters so you and our agent can see new listings that immediately fit these parameters. When you make your list, make sure to have your “must-haves” be the basis of your search. We want to make sure that we check off as many of those as possible. Wishes are important too, and we don’t want to forget those when looking! But we want to be a bit more flexible on those. So the basis of our home search will always be your “must-haves.”
- Go and look at a variety of homes! We always suggest that you look at multiple types of homes to really get a feel for what you want! You may want a two-story home, but walk into a one-level ranch and find you really love that! So we always recommend to look at all kinds of different homes to really figure out what you like!
- Trust your agent! We have your best interests in mind and really do want to help you find the home you want! You are not a paycheck to us, but a person who has wants and dreams, and we are just as excited as you are when you find the home that is right for you! We always have a listening ear to hear your thoughts on how the search is going, what you think of certain houses, and what your worries are. Together we can find the house that will become your home!
