Community Spotlight: City Built Brewing
Voted “Brewery of the Year” by West Michigan Food and Beverage Awards, City Built Brewing is one of the most unique and awesome breweries in Grand Rapids! Edwin or Ed Collazo is the mastermind behind City Built and has worked hard to create a place where “cultures collide” as a reflection of the diversity of the Grand Rapids. The food and beer are inspired by his Puerto Rican background and diversity in his own family’s palate and customers. His wife, Sweet K, is the mastermind behind the amazing food (trust us, try the tacos), and Patrick is the brewery wizard creating all of the beer recipes. They’ve recently become a sponsor of our cycling team, and the hangout spot after our city bike rides. Whatever your preferred beer flavors, you’re going to find it here. From stouts, lagers, IPAs, and ales, there is a wide variety in flavors, profiles, and ABV. They even have some zero-proof cocktails as well.
They also have an awesome location! Located in Grand Rapids’ 2nd Ward, it’s a hopping place in the summer! They have a large taproom, outdoor seating, and even a walk-up window to grab a drink to go and enjoy in the social district. With Grand Rapids continuing to develop the 2nd Ward, we know that this area is going to continue to grow and turn into a summertime hangout hotspot! Not to mention, the sunsets over the Grand River are pretty amazing! We love Grand Rapids, and we love the people that have helped build it, including City Built Brewing which continues to bring people together from all different backgrounds and cultures.
