Grand Rapids March Events to Check Out!
March-the month were things start feeling like they are coming alive in West Michigan! We start to wake up from our winter slumber and really feel that cabin fever! Good news is there are a number of really fun staple events that come in March to Grand Rapids that are always a blast! Whether March is meek or wild, these events will have you laughing, soaking in those spring vibes, and partying with the rest of Grand Rapids! Here are our 3 3vents you should check out this March!
- Gilda’s LaughFest! A staple in Grand Rapids since 2011, LaughFest is a major festival recognized throughout the Midwest. Every year, there is a lineup of fresh faces and comedians to cater to every style and preference! Happening from March 8-12, there are over a dozen different comedy acts! Headliners this year include, Tig Notaro, Mike Vecchione, and Pete Holmes. They always have a clean comedy line up too! We look forward to LaughFest every year and love that Grand Rapids is home to this event!
- The Butterflies at Frederik Meijer Gardens! Walking through this exhibit will help chase those winter blues away! A crowd favorite, the butterflies are an amazing exhibit for families, nature lovers, and photographers alike! There are 7,000 butterflies representing 60 different species! You can see them from in every stage of development! Admire all their beautiful colors and patterns and maybe even experience some landing on you! Besides the butterflies there are a myriad of different plants and flowers to admire too. This event runs from March 1-April 30 so there is plenty of opportunities to see them!
- Irish on Ionia! Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Grand Rapids is a blast at this event! On March 18, Ionia St. is closed down from Fulton St. to Oakes and lined with food trucks, Irish dancers, two band stages, and of course, beer! This is it’s 10th year and the first time it’s happened since the pandemic. It’s “Michigan’s Largest St. Patrick’s Day Street Party” and definitely worth checking out! You can get your tickets here!
- *Bonus* The Home and Garden Show! One of the biggest expos at DeVos Place, this expo brings some spring to the cold days of early March! Walking around this event and smelling the flowers, seeing the gardens, and gathering ideas for that home project are great ways to beat the winter blues! This expo is always the first weekend in March and draws thousands of people through the doors! It’s always a fun time!
